A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCliO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION REQUIRING ~HE APPROVAL
OF ANY AFFECTED CITY PRIOR TO THE LOCATION OF A
MAGNETIC-LEVITATION TRAIN TERMINAL
WHEREAS, the State of California recently enacted Assembly Bill 1839
as state law; and
WHEREAS, this law is directed to the ultimate developsent of an
Ontario-Las Vegas Magnetic Leviration Train proj act through a Bi-state
Commissions and
WHEREAS, our State Senator Ruben Ayala inserted a provision that the
terminal for this project could be located in San Bernardino County only with
the County ' s approval ~ and
WHEREAS, this same principal of local control should also be extended
to the City. that will. ul~iaately have the terminal located within its City
limits; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino can ensure the consistency of
the Magnetic Leviration Project with local planning goals by requiring prior
approval for the municipality affected.
NC~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Rancho Cucamonga City Council
that the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is requested to enact a
resolutlon declaring its intent to require that a terminal for the
Magnetic-Levitation Train Project could be located only with the affected
City's prior approval.
PASSED, APPROVE, and ADOPTED this 4th day of November, 1987.
