A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, RESTRICTING AIR TRAFFIC TRAINING
FLIGHTS OVER THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA
WHEREAS, on November 7, 1977, the City of Rancho Cucamonga was
incorporated and at that time encompassed 32 square miles with a population of
44,600; and
WHEREAS, Rancho Cucamonga has now grown into a full service suburban
community of 37 square miles and a sphere of 12 miles with a population of
105,000; and
WHEREAS, the City has been designated an air traffic training area
for the past 20 years before our incorporation and growth; and
WHEREAS, the City has seen increases in the number of training
flights and related noise from these flights over the City for the past 12
years during this growth period; and
WHEREAS, the City is concerned about the increased number of training
flights over portions of the City which are now developed; and
WHEREAS, the City is committed in its efforts to promote the public
health, safety, and welfare by restricting the number of training flights over
the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does
hereby resolve and request the FAA to restrict the number of air traffic
training flights over Rancho Cucamonga and to consider eliminating Rancho
Cucamonga as a designated training area due to the development of the City.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 17th day of January, 1990.
