HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-355 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 90-355 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, URGING ADOPTION OF CONSERVATION MEASURES TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF THE 1990 CALIFORNIA DROUGHT WHEREAS, California is entering a fourth consecutive year of below normal precipitation; and WHEREAS, precipitation for the current water year has been substan- tially below normal in the watersheds of the imported water supplies serving Southern California, and many communities in the State will suffer water shortages; and WHEREAS, the Chino Groundwater Basin supplies a substantial amount of the water used in West San Bernardino County but is dependent upon supplemen- tal supplies imported from the State Water Project to meet all of the water demands in the "West End"; and WHEREAS, the proper management of the local groundwater supply, as supplemented by imported supplies, mandates that appropriate water conserva- tion measures be undertaken to protect and conserve these supplies; and WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga adopted a Xeriscape Ordinance on January 17, 1990, with the purpose and intent of establishing a water conservation plan to reduce water consumption in the landscape environment; and WHEREAS, additional measures such as waste water reclamation and reuse; development of conjunctive use programs; and protection of the quality of groundwater supplies should be encouraged. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby resolve and urges all local county, cities, and other local entities in the area to adopt a Conservation Ordinance designed to mitigate the effects of the continuing drought during calendar year 1990.
