POIW3LATION UNDERCDUNT BY THE UNITED STATES C~lqSUS BUREAU
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga believes that the population
count of 101,409 provided by the U.S. Census Bureau is inaccurate and has
significantly und~ the population of our cummmity; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamo~ believes that the population
count of 114,954 as determ/ned by th~ California State Department of Finance
is a more accurate reflection of our c~u,~nities population; and
WHEREAS, census enumeration reflected high vacancy rates in areas of
high population within the City of Rancho Cucamonga; and
WHEREAS, the City b~ emhausted the appeal process available to us
with the U.S. Census Bureau without satisfaction; and
WHEREAS, this underoount of the City's population will result in
revenue losses to the City in excess of $700,000.00 annually.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does
hereby resolve to support the efforts of the City of Los Angeles in it's
endeavors to address the population undercount by the U.S. Census Bureau.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Rancho Cucamonga is cognizant
of and appreciate the efforts of the City of Los Angeles, which could, if
successful, benefit other c~,~L~unities that have suffered frown this undercount.
