HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-124 - Resolutions RESOLUI~ON NO. 91-124 A RESOLUI~ON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO ~, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING HISTORIC ~ DESIGNATION 91-02, THEREBY DESIGNATING THE NOS~ZO- ~IDERLE HOUSE, ~ AT 8068 ~ AV~qlIE, AS A HISTORIC~ WHEREAS, Misters Jim Hawn and Bill Taylor have filed an application for landmark Designation 91-02, as described in tb~ title of this Resolution. Hereinafter in this Resolution, the subject Landmark Designatio~ is referred to as the "application". WHEREAS, on April 4, 1991, the Historic Preservation C~d_~sion of the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a duly noticed public hearing on the application and, following the conclusion of said public hearing, adopted Resolution No. 91-03, thereby rec~,~ to this City Council that said application be approved. WHEREAS, on May 15, 1991, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a meeting on the application and concluded said meeting on that date. WH~tEAS, all legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this resolution have occurred. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamongadoes hereby find, determineandresolve as follows: SECTION 1: The application applies to property located at Assessor Parcel Number 208-153-01. S~L'~fION 2: As one of a few remaining structures composing the early Cucamonga Town Center, the Nosenzo-Smiderle house remains a critical link to understanding the historic composition of the area. The proposed landmark meets the following criteria established in Chapter 2.24.090 of the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code: A. Historical and Cultural significance: 1. The proposed T andmark is particularly representative of a historical period and way of life. 2. The proposed Landmark is an example of a type of building which was once con~n but now rare. 3. R~e proposed Landmark is of greater age than most of its kind. Resolution No. 91-124 Page 2 B. Neighborhood and Geographic Setting: 1. The proposed Landmark materially benefits the historic character of the neighborhood. 2. The proposed Landmark, in its location, represents an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood, c~mity and City (Ord. 70 S9, 1979). S~CTI~ 3: Designation of a tmndmark is exempt frcm C~QA (Article 19, Section 15308). S~C'ITON 4: Based on the substantial evidence received and reviewed by this Council and based on the findings set forth above, BE IT ~ RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga approves the designation of the Nosenzo-Smiderle House as a Historic Landmark.
