ADJOURNMENT The Planning Commission has adopted Administrahve Regulations that set an 11 00 p m adjournment time If items go beyond that time, they shall be heard only with the consent of the Comm~ss~on 1, Gail Sanchez, Planning Commission Secretary of the City o/ Rancho Cucamonga, or my designee, hereby certify that a true, accurate copy of the foregoing agenda was posted on August 17, 2000, at least 72 hours poor to the meeting per Government Code Section 54964 2 at 10500 Civic Center Dnve, Rancho Cucamonga • Page 2 V Vicinity Map Historic Preservation Commission August 23, 2000 HillsidE Bany~ 19th/21( A City of Rancho Cucamonga ,t CITY HALL ilson ~ ~ T,,, ~_ ~ j Y ~ ~ - L = - ~ L ~ ~ Q i t h e aneno c i t ucamonga Staff Report DATE August 23, 2000 o f TO Chairman and Members of the Historic Preservation Commission FROM Brad Buller, City Planner BY Shonda Bello, Planning Aide SUBJECT LANDMARK ALTERATION PERMIT 00-01 - ALTA LOMA FIRE ASSOCIATION - Consider plans to rehabilitate and re-orientate the Landmark designated Alta Loma Honor Roll, located at 6627 Amethyst Avenue - APN 202-101-11 Related File Landmark Designation 138 PROJECT AND SITE DESCRIPTION A Historical Significance The Alta Loma Honor Roll honors those residents that served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War The Honor Rolls are contained within able-roofed, wooden structure consisting of three glass-covered panels On April 20, 1942, the first two panels of the Honor Roll were dedicated The construction of this structure was completed by using donated materials and volunteer efforts of the local community On January 15, 1951, a third panel was dedicated, which included the names of Korean War veterans The Honor Roll became a Designated Landmark on March 4, 1981, by action of the City Council B Site Characteristics The Alta Loma Honor Roll is currently located at 6623 Amethyst Avenue on a 24-foot x 40-foot plot of land in front of the Alta Loma Fire Station offices The site is relatively flat, but follows the slight grade of Amethyst Avenue ANALYSIS A General The Alta Loma Honor Roil is in need of rehabilitation The current tale roof is sagging, the wood structure, as well as the Honor Roll itself, is deteriorating due to weathering and age ITEM A HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION STAFF REPORT LAP 00-01 -ALTA LOMA FIRE ASSOCIATION August 23, 2000 . WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission held a duly advertised public hearing to consider all available comments on the proposed Landmark Alteration Permit WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission received and reviewed all available input regarding said Landmark Alteration Permit WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this Resolution have occurred NOW, THEREFORE, the Historic Preservation Commission hereby specifically finds, determines, and resolves as follows SECTION I The application applies to the bwlding located at Assessor's Parcel Number 202-101-11 • SECTION II The proposed Landmark Alteration meets the following criteria established in Chapter 22 24 120 of the Rancho Cucamonga Murncipal Code FINDING The action proposed is consistent with the purposes of this Ordinance FACT The Landmark Alteration as presented will enhance and promote the visibility of this historic landmark FINDING The action proposed will not be detrimental to a structure or feature of significant aesthetic, cultural, architectural, or engineering interest or value of an historic nature FACT The proposed modifications are architecturally compatible and wdl enhance the continued use of the structure SECTION III This Landmark Alteration Permit is exempt from CEQA Article 10, Section 15301 SECTION IV Based on the substantial evidence rewewed by this Commission and based on the findings set forth above, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rancho Cucamonga Historic Preservation Commission approves Landmark Alteration Permit 00-01 for alterations to the Alta Loma Honor Roll as described in the Staff Report dated August 23, 2000, with the following conditions • HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO.
