2. DISCUSSION REGARDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE RANCHO
CUCAMONGA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

This is the time and place for the general public to address the City Council and the Community Foundation.
State law prohibits the Council and Community Foundation from addressing any issue not previously included
on the agenda, 'rhe Council and Community Foundation may receive testimony and set the matter for a
subsequent meeting. Comments are to be limited to five minutes per individual.

SUB.JECT: DISCUJSSION BY COMMUINITY FOUNDATION REGARDING POTENTIAI:
GOALS
A Few months ago the City Council Community Foundation Sub-Committee met and held
preliminary discussions regarding potential goals and objectives for the Foundation (See Attachment
1). Staff then provided the same list to the Community Foundation at their first meeting held July
20m. At that time the Board was infbrmed that a joint meeting with the City Council would be Ineld
in the near timbre: to tk~rt. her identify those goals t?rom the discussion held that evening, the Board
came to a general consensus on preliminary priority goals for the City Council to consider (See
Attachment 2). Staffis providing this intbrmation to fiicilitate discussions between the City Council
and Community Foundation at the joint meeting on August 10, 1999.

Possible City Council Goals for Community Foundation
Ongoing Goal
Promote and receive community donations to the following existing
Foundation accounts and distribute funds in accordance with the
objectives of the Foundation and the desire of the donors:
A. Community Services F'und
B. Jack McNay Memorial. Fund
C:. Youth Achievement Fund
D. Learn Not: To Burn Fund
Long Term Goal
2. l:ni'tiate and implement a Capital Building Campaign to. raise funds
and solicit grants for the future design and construction of a: (choose
one)
A. Regional Professional Performing Arts Center
[3. Community Theatre Facility
C. Highest unfunded community priority facilities at Central Park
I). Lighted Athletic Field Complex for youth sports programs
E. Community Fine Arts and Cultural Center

Initiate and implement an Endowment Fund which will use
investment earnings for funding new or expanded community
programs to: (choose one or more)
A.. Present a series of professional Performing Arts Presentations
B. Support operations of a Community Theater Facility and
develop an annual series of community performing arts
programs in the facility
C. iDevelop a series of community Entertainment Events at the
Epicenter
D. Implement a well rounded program of Fine Arts activities fbr
the community
E. Operate additional drop-in recreational and social service
programs for community teenagers
F. Conduct additional low cost recreation and human service
programs for senior citizens in the community
(5. iImplement an Urban Camping and Outdoors program for
community youth

4. Conduct programs and activities to raise funds which will be used
directly for new and/or expanded community wide Special Events
such as Holiday events, Concerts in the Park, Art Shows, etc..
Long Term Goal
5. Plan and conduct a large annual "Foundation Signature Event" to raise
funds for one or more of the identified projects and to heighten
cornmunity awareness of the activities of the Foundation.

6. Identify potential members for a "Foundation Advisory Board"
consisting of community and business leaders for City Council
consideration. Coordinate Foundation activities with the future
Advisory Board, if it is instituted.
