A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN
APPLICATION DRC2008-00928, TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
REQUESTING THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA BE A CERTIFIED
LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR .THE PURPOSES OF HISTORIC
PRESERVATION.
A. Recitals.
1. The United States Congress under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966,
16 U.S.C. 470 as amended, has authorized the establishment of a Certified Local Government
(CLG) program to assist local governments for expansion of their historic preservation programs and
activities; and
2. The State of California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP), represented by the State
Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), is responsible for the administration of the CLG program
within the state and the establishment of necessary rules and procedures governing the application
by local agencies under the program;.and
3. The State of California adopted procedures that require the local government to certify by
resolution, the approval of an application prior to submission of said application to the state; and
4. Participation in the CLG program will provide an opportunity to integrate
preservation-oriented development that will satisfy both preservation and development goals; and
5. Participation in the CLG program will secure and strengthen the City's current Historic
Preservation practices, encourage the formation of firm, up-to-date policies, and is in conformance
with the 2001 General Plan and with the General Plan Update.
B. Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby found, determined, and resolved by the City Council of the
City of Rancho Cucamonga that we hereby:
1. Approve the filing of an application for certification under the Certified Local Government
Program; and
2. Appoint the Planning Director or authorized Deputy, as agent of the City to coordinate,
process, and execute all contracts, agreements, amendments, and ancillary documents within the
scope of the attached application for certification.
3. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.
