MISSION
The mission of the Rancho Cucamonga Community Foundation is to develop, through
inter-actions with the community, a plan for meeting the cultural needs of the
city and promote and support the recreational and human service activities
within the city; to identify existfng resources directed to those needs; to en-
courage and assist other groups within the city or region that are addressing
various areas of need; to involve the total community in meeting the identified
needs and to direct and/or coordinate funds isina and "friends isina_" pffnrts
in support of facilities or programs designed to meet those needs.
LONG RANGE GOALS

SUBJECT: FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT AND GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
As part of the upcoming point City Cou~il/Community Foundation meet{ng on
September 16, this memo provides additional information regarding the
Mission Statement and Goals and Objectives established by the Foundation.
The entire Board of Oi rectors has met on numerous occasions to discuss the
role the Foundation should play within the community in raising needed
revenue for cultural arts, recreation and leisure activities, and Human
services, The Foundation also expects to be a front runner within the
conmunity in promoting and encouraging uciier iw.ol orya„;ca t', oc. :::"_
agencies to contribute to and promote these activities,
the attached Mission Statement, Long-range Goals, Intermediate Ob,jec Lives
and the Tweive-month Plan have been approved by the Board of Directors and
are being presented to the City Council for your concurrence. The members
of the Board wish to have the Lity Council understand that they believe the
role of the Foundation to support, encourage and promote the cultural arts,
educational and leisure, and human service, needs and programs for the
community. The Board members see their role as bringing the different
agencies and organizations together which share a common goal far fulfilling
these needs and programs in order to increase their Visibility and
effectiveness in these areas.

SUBJECT: Request for Citr Suuoort of Founda*ion Staff
The attached job description and outline of responsibilities pertaining to the
Administrative Intern for the Community Foundation is submitted for your
ro nside ra lion. The Board of Directors has completed its mission statement and
goals and objectives for the next twelve months and finds that an essential
need fora part-time Administrative Intern in order to achieve the established
goals and objectives. A copy of the mission statement and twelve month plan
are attached within this agenda packet.
The Intern is justified due to the need for extensive donation and cultivation
records to he maintained. In addition, the Intern would provide support in the
areas of public contact, cooresoondence preparatior„ and Special events
planning and coordination. without the Intern, Tt is anticipated that current
staff could not maintain such important donatf on and cultivation records and
1f,LL~y> ue~eaam•y rur the rounaan on to ratse funds. In addition, special
staffing is required to address the Lime consuming tasks of preparing for fund
raising activities such as Foundation mixers, the Mayor's Ball, and other
Foundation events.
Again, the attached job description and outline of responsibilities provide
complete information as to the duties of the Administrative Intern. The Board
of Directors respectfully requests the City Council's approval of this
part-time position (allocated from the City's General Fund) and the con tf nued
support necessary for the Foundation to achieve its tremendous goals.

Definition
This is a part time entry level professional administrative staff work assisting a
deportment heal in The preparation of reports, special analyses and the support of on-
going programs.
Vnder supervision, an employee allocated to this class is responsible for providing

programs and offending to administrative details. Work includes a wide variety of tasks
designed to relieve a department head of details by review of materials, assembly of

programs. Work is reviewed by observation, conference and analysis of reports.
Examples of Work
Confers with the department head concerning operations! problems and subjects
requiring procedural or policy review.
Conducts assigned research, procedural and administrative work or studies; prepares
reports containing proposed or recommended solutions or courses of actions.
Participates in budget reviews and in the development of departmental budgets; attends
budget review meetings.
Represents the department head as delegated; relays instructions and information.
.Monitors assigned departmental operations statements and programs and advises the
department head of problems or variances from planned objectives; analyzes complaints,
follows up and furnishes public information.
Performs related work as required.
Desired Qualifications
Graduation from college with a degree in Business or Public Administration and some
experience in municipal administrative work; or any equivalent combination of education
and experience that produces the following:
Ability to design, conduct and analyze research findings.
Ability to write clear and concise reports.
Ability to communicate effectively with management.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other

Job Description - Administrative Intern
The Board of Directors of the Rancho Cucamonga Community Foundation seek a
qualified Administrative Intern to assist staff with the following tasks and
responsibilities:
1. Prepare cporespondence relating to Foundation business.
2. Prepare and update comprehensive cultivation listings for business,
corporate and individual gift campaigns.
3. Prepare and maintain prospect and cul tf va Lion records.
4. Plan and coordinate special events and fundraising ac tivitf es.
5. Coordinate the Rancho Cucamonga Community Calendar, a joint project between
the City and Foundation.
6. Maintain gift records and process gift acknowledgements.
7. Coordinate public relations efforts for the Foundation and prepare press
releases and ocher reiacea inro rnationai matenais.
8. Respond to inquiries regarding Foundation business.
9. Coordinate and prepare Foundation meeting materials and information.
10. Assist with other related duties and tasks as assigned.
