A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A LETTER
OF SUPPORT FOR THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS' TRANSPORTATION
PLANNING GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE METRO GOLD
LINE PHASE 2C ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS STUDY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga has for its consideration
a Letter of Support for the Southern California Association of Governments' Transportation
Planning Grant Application for the Metro Gold Line Phase 2C Alternatives Analysis Study; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that light rail service to the Ontario Airport
will benefit the residents of the City of Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino County; and
WHEREAS, an alternatives analysis study needs to be performed, and is the next critical
step in the process of bringing light rail to Ontario Airport in San Bernardino County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to delegate authorization to execute this Letter of
Support to the Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California,
hereby resolves that said Letter of Support be hereby approved, and the Mayor is hereby
authorized to sign said Letter of Support on behalf of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, and the
City Clerk to attest thereto.

SUBJECT: METRO GOLD LINE PHASE 2C, TRANSIT PLANNING GRANT
Dear Mr. Ikhrata:
This is written in support of the Southern California Association of Governments
transportation planning grant application for the Metro Gold Line Phase 2C alternatives
analysis study. The alternatives analysis study is the next critical step in the long process
to bring light rail to San Bernardino County and in particular the LA/Ontario International
Airport.
Extending the Metro Gold Line approximately eight miles from the Montclair Transit Center
to the LA/Ontario International Airport has a potential ridership of 14,000 daily boardings
according to the December 2008 Strategic Planning Study Report. The strategic planning
study identified several significant activity centers that would be served by the light rail line
in addition to the benefits to daily home-to-work and home-to-school trips. The line would
terminate at Ontario's proposed multi-model transit center immediately adjacent to the
LA/Ontario International Airport where it will provide air passenger connectivity and
convenient transfers to the future'California High Speed Rail system, Cal-Nevada high
speed train, Bus Rapid Transit and other local and regional transit services.
