A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING THE
CITIZEN CORPS ANNEX TO THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
PLAN AND ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL AND
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM TRAINING
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, President George W. Bush asked cities and counties across the country to create
Citizen Corps Programs to bring together first responders, volunteer organizations, law
enforcement agencies and other community serving institutions; and
WHEREAS, the primary objective of a Citizen Corps Program is to match the needs of first
responders with the skill and abilities of volunteers to make their communities safer, stronger,
and better prepared for preventing and handling acts of terrorism and disasters of all kinds; and
WHEREAS, there are three national Citizen Corps Programs already established in the City of
Rancho Cucamonga, which are Neighborhood Watch, Volunteers in Police Service, (Citizens on
Patrol), and the Medical Reserve Corps (coordinated through the San Bernardino County
Sheriff; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga is establishing a Citizen Corps Advisory Committee
that will consist of representatives from the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has established an Emergency Management
Program entrusted with making the community safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond
to any emergency situation; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA THE FOLLOWING:
Section 1. Creation of the City of Rancho Cucamonga Citizen Corps Council.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga received the Citizen
Corps Program Annex to the Emergency Operations Plan.
Section 3. That the City Council and the Board approves the Citizen Corps Program Annex
to the Emergency Operations Plan.
