Subject: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE 2011- 2013 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND THE FIRE SUPPORT SERVICES EMPLOYEE GROUP RELATIVE TO WAGES, BENEFITS AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT. RECOMMENDATION That the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District Board of Directors adopt the attached Resolution, approving an amendment to the 2011-13 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Fire District and the Fire Support Services Employee Group. BACKGROUND The existing MOU between the parties expires June 30, 2013. That MOU provides that employees hired after July 9, 2011 receive a lower pension benefit than was previously provided and pay 1% of the CaIPERS member retirement contribution. Recently, the Fire Support Services Group approached the City with a request to consider a one- year extension to the MOU. To that end, representatives of the Fire District and the Fire Support Services Employee Group have met and conferred in good faith and reached an agreement to amend the existing MOU. The amendment calls for an extension of the agreement through June 30, 2014, and includes a new provision that members of the bargaining group hired prior to July 9, 2011 shall contribute one percentage point (1%) of the normal CaIPERS employer contribution effective July 1, 2013. This amendment makes this MOU consistent with MOUs currently in place with other City labor groups. Attachments 1.
