An additional seven (7) deputies added to the station's personnel in mid year 1987 resulted in a net decrease in response times for emergency calls of 30 seconds. This would indicate, initially, thr.t increased manpower does have some affect on response times. The Sheriff's Department is attempting to utilise alternatives to adding manpower to increase the effectiveness of field personnel, (including response times). some of those alternatives include the Computer Aided Dispatch Program, end utilising non -sworn personnel such as Forensic Technicians, to allow deputies more unencumbered time to be used in proactive patrol and responding to calls for service. 4 CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA MEMORANDUM DAZE: June 13, 1988 rAOE: SAUCE ZEINRR, ACTING COMMANDER RANCHO C'JCArONGA STATION TO: LAUREN N.
