HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-06 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 81-06 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AMENDING THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA'S DEFINITION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND INCORPORATING SAID AMENDMENT INTO THE HOUSING ELEMENT OF THE DRAFT GENERAL PLAN. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Rancho Cucamonga to encourage the provision of affordable housing to provide a balanced housing market within the City; and, WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recognizes the need to have a clear definition of what constitutes affordable housing within the Housing Element; and, WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Planning Commission that the present definition for owner-occupied housing used by the City, which is contained in City Resolution No. 79-74 (Residential Assessment) , may limit the provision of affordable housing by the private housing industry owner-occupied housing; and, WHEREAS, the definition for rental affordable housing, also found in Resolution No. 79-74 has been determined to be superior to the current definition and should incorporate its present form into the Housing Element of the Draft General Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby declares that the following definitions of what constitutes an affordable housing unit shall be incorporated into the Housing Element of the Draft General Plan: Owner-occupied: An affordable housing unit is defined as one which shall be or has been purchased and occupied by a household whose income is less than 120% of the current median family income in the regional market area as defined by Southern California Association of Governments. (SCAG) Renter-occupied: Fair market rent in San Bernardino County as defined by Section 8 'of the Housing and Community Development Act which shall be readjusted periodically.
