(i) Quiel Brothers Sign Om~m~F has filed an a[~licatic~ fur the
Ap~xDval of Sign Permit 92-141 as described in the title of this Reeolutic~.
Hereinafcer in this Resolution, the subject Sign Permit is referred to as '"the
application."
(ii) On June 17, 1992, City staff informed the applicant that the
applicatic~ w~ald be aenied by staff, based c~ its incu~s~ with the Sign
Ordinance and City Design Policies. The applicatim was officially denied by
staff ~1 July 9, 1992.
(iii) ~he decisic~ re~resanted c~ said Sign Permit ARolicatic~ w~s
tim~y ap~ea~ed to the Phnning ~ion.
(iV) On A~3~st 12, 1992, the Pla~rd/l~ C~i~l of the City of
Rancb~ ~ cunducted a meeting c~ the applicatic~ and concluded said
meeting on that date. At that meeting, the Cc~issic~ ado~ its Resolution
No. 92-111 denying the application.
(v) ~ ~isicn r~mted by said Phnning O~a-~sion Resolution
was timely appealed to the City Council.
(vi) On the 16th day of September 1992, the City Council of the City
of Rancho ~ cunductea_ a non-advert/se~ public hearin~ and c~cluded
said hearing on that date.
(vii) All legal prerequisi~ priur to the _~_a~otion of tb~-~ Resolution
City Council of the City of Pancho Cuc~mn~ga as follows:
1. ~ Council hereby specifically finds that all of the facts set
forth in the Recitals, Part A, of this Resolu~cion are true and correct.

staff reports, this Council hereby specifically finds as follows:

(a) ~he applicatim applies to pruperty located at
8166 Foothill Boulevard c~ property zaned Special (X~m~ial, and is currently

to walls, rather than a roof canopy, as proposed;
(e) ~he application as ~ significantly eEee~s the
~ allowable sign area of 10 percent of a kuila{n~ face, as per Ranclio
O~ M~kici~ Code Section 14.20.100. ~he application prup~ses a sign
area of ~tely 55 percent.
(f) ~he proposed sign could be alternati%~ly locat~-~__ on the

set forth in paragraphs I and 2 above, this Council hex-eby finds and cc~cludes
as follc~s:
(a) ~he design of the sign is not ~msistent with the intent
and purpcee of the Sign C~4nance;
(b) ~e p~ceed ~lication is not in c~l]ance with ea~ of
the a~plicable provisic~ of the Sign Ordinance;
4. ~he City C~u~cil of the City of Rancho Ow-~Eja hereb~ denies

6. ~he City Clerk of the City of Rancho Cucamunga is hereby
directed to: (a) certify to the ad_nption of this Resolution, and (b)
forthwit/1 transmit a certified copy of this Resolution, by certified mail,
return-receipt requested, to Quiel Brothers Sign Cc~ at the address
identified in City records.
7. ~he City Clerk shall certify to tba adoption of this Resolution.
