A RESOLUTION OF THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA PLANNING COMMISSION
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF STREET NAME CHANGE NO. 87-01
REQUESTING A NAME CHANGE FROM TURNER AVENUE TO HERMOSA
AVENUE FROM THE SOUTHERN RANCHO CUCAMONGA CITY LIMITS
NORTH TO ITS TERMINUS AT BASE LINE ROAD.
WHEREAS, on the 25th day of February, 1987, the Planning Commission
held a duly advertised public hearing pursuant to Section 65854 of the
California Government Code; and
WHEREAS, on the 20th day of May, 1981, the City Council adopted
Ordinance No. 144, establishing Street Naming Policy for Rancho Cucamonga; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has initiated the request for a Street Name
Change for Turner Avenue pursuant to Section 3.A.3 of Ordinance No. 144; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Division has prepared a report discussing the
justification for the change, recommending a replacement name and discussing
the impact of the proposed change;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Planning Commission has made the following
findings:
1. Ordinance No. 144 states that streets that are
continuous shall be extended in accordance with the
present street names wherever possible and feasible.
2. The proposed name "Hermosa" has historical
significance in that it is the same name as one of
the first tracts in the Alta Loma area.
3. The proposed change would not create significant
adverse impacts on the environment.
4. The proposed change is consistent with the goals,
policies and standards of the General Plan.
5. The proposed change is consistent with the adopted
circulation element.
6. The street name change is deemed necessary in order
to protect the public health, safety, comfort,
convenience and general welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That pursuant to Section 65850-65855 of the
California Government Code, the Planning Commission
of the City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby recommends
approval on the 25th day of February, 1987, of
Street Name Change No. 87-01;

2. That the Planning Commission hereby recommends that
the City Council approve and adopt Street Name
Change No. 87-01, effective one year from date of adoption.
3. That a certified copy of this Resolution and related
material hereby adopted by the Planning Commission
shall be forwarded to the City Council .
