A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING STREET NAME CHANGE NO. 95-01
TO CHANGE THE NAME OF 24TH STREET TO WILSON AVENUE IN THE
ETIWANDA COMMUNITY, AND MAKING FINDINGS IN SUPPORT THEREOF.
A. Recitals.
1. At its meeting of May 10, 1995, the Planning Commission stated their
intent to proceed with the above-referenced street name change.
2. On the 14th day of June 1995, the Planning Commission of the City of
Rancho Cucamonga conducted a duly noticed public hearing for the above-mentioned
street rename proposal, Street Name Change No. 95-01, pursuant to the City Code
Chapter 12.12.
3. The Rancho Cucamonga Planning Division prepared a report which addressed
the justification for the change, recommended a street naming plan, provided a
replacement name, and discussed the impacts of the recommended change.
4. All legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this Resolution have
occurred.
B. Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby found, determined, and resolved by the Planning
Commission of the City of Rancho Cucamonga as follows:
1. This Commission hereby specifically finds that all of the facts set
forth in the Recitals, Part A, of this Resolution are true and correct.
2. Based upon substantial evidence presented to this Commission during the
above-referenced public hearing on June 14, 1995, including written and oral
staff reports, together with public testimony, this Commission hereby
specifically finds as follows:
a. Under the City's adopted Circulation Plan, 24th Street will
ultimately connect with Wilson Avenue. To eliminate any confusion caused by the
connection, one name should be used for its entire length.
b. There are no existing structures with 24th Street addresses.
c. Presently there are two locations in Rancho Cucamonga where 24th
Street exists as an improved street: at the City limits in the Etiwanda area
(east of Wardman Bullock Road) and in the Northtown area (east of Hermosa
Avenue) .
d. Currently 24th Street only exists as a 1/2 mile segment east of
Wardman Bullock Road; whereas, Wilson Avenue exists as a secondary arterial for
approximately 2 miles west of Milliken Avenue.
e. The City's Street Naming Ordinance requires streets which are
continuous to be extended with present street name and prohibits duplicate street
names. The Ordinance also prohibits numerical street names (i.e. , 1st, 2nd,
etc. ) .

Specific Plan.
c. That the proposed change will not cause significant adverse impact
upon the environment.

health, safety, comfort, convenience, and general welfare.

above in this Resolution is exempt from the requirements of the California
Environmental Quality Act of 1970, as amended, and the Guidelines promulgated
thereunder, pursuant to Section 15061 (b) (3) of the State CEQA Guidelines.
