A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA RE-ADOPTING THE 2005 CITY
COUNCIL MISSION STATEMENT
RECITALS:
A. The City Council adopted a Mission Statement in 2005.
B. At the City Council's meeting of January 26, 2016 the Council agreed to reaffirm
and re-adopt the 2005 Mission Statement, with no changes, and to identify methods to promote
and distribute the Mission Statement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA,
HEREBY FINDS, DETERMINES, RESOLVES, AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The above recitals are true and correct and are a substantive part of this
Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council hereby re-adopts the 2005 Mission Statement as
follows:
The Mission of the City Council of Rancho Cucamonga is:
• Make decisions, and be perceived as making decisions, for the general welfare of the
community.
• Always work to improve existing services and develop policies to meet the expected as
well as anticipated needs of the community.
• Work together cooperatively to respect all persons and their ideas in order to develop
and maintain the trust of the community.
• Reflect the community's desires and priorities by assuring that decisions accurately
reflect the community's interests by fairly translating public feedback into public policy.
• Enhance the quality of life of all Rancho Cucamonga residents through the continued
pursuit of excellence and commitment to the City's core values and goals.
• Set the vision for the community for the future.
• Have a professional, objective, and respectful relationship with each other in order to
more effectively address the challenges of the future.
Section 3. This re-adopted Mission Statement will be further promoted and
distributed as follows:
1. Print the Mission Statement for each Councilmember to sign when they are sworn into
office and which would be framed and placed in their office.
2. Print the Mission Statement in a large format and place it in the Council Chambers or in
the lobby near the display case
3. Place a signed copy of the Mission Statement inside Closed Session Meeting room.
4. Place a signed copy of the Mission Statement inside the Tri-Communities room for study
sessions.

Section 4. Staff is hereby authorized and directed, jointly and severally, to do any
and all things which they may deem necessary or advisable to effectuate this Resolution.
