The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Nayor Dennis L. Stout. ' .... - Present were Councilmembers= Deborah N. Brown, Charles J. Buquet, lI (arrived at 6=35 p.m.), Jeffrey King, Pamela J. City NassSez'e amyJew The City Manager pointed out this last year we faced the loss of Gemco although next year this should be offset by the admissions tax. However, we are not sure we will be able to keep this. It will cost us half a mtllion dollars more just to duplicate last year's program, and we are about $2 million from the Gann spendin8 lim~tatlon. Re also stated that staf~ is now looking at a rdo-year budget. The City yard modifications ere hearth8 completion, and we need to chanSe the 8as tanks at the old City yard. City Rail was still on schedule, and we hope to break ground in late June. He stated that there were two things that he wanted to see accomplished. 1) To slow the traft~c down with more enforcement, and 2) to 8erierate more sales tax. G.- GtTT G68NGI~ Councilwoman Wright went over a list of her concerns as followss 1. Agreed with the Public Safe~y needs. 2. Stop the decline of neiShborhoods. 3. Look at planning 8oals, econemic development proSrsms, County planninS. ~, Community watch progress. 5. Trails committee. Would like to see us focus on th~s to include bikes and joeging. 6. Reduction of response time for the Sheritf. 7. Need north/south street stop signs. 8. See a perks department established. Work with the schools during sum~er activities. 9. Continue with disaster preparedness drills. 10. Set priorities for developing more sales tax. the in Councilwoman Brown stated that we should have some type of priority for development that is goin8 on in the County2 especially to the development Victoria when they sell parcels to other develo'pers. After further discussion and listing of priorities, Councilwoman WriSht expressed she wanted Council to set the policies.
