A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA,CALIFORNIA, DECLARING SUPPORT
FOR A PROPOSED ALIGNMENT OF THE FOOTHILL GOLD
LINE THAT MINIMIZES IMPACTS TO EXISTING LAND USES
AND ENSURES ACCESS TO RANCHO CUCAMONGA
RESIDENTS
WHEREAS, the City Council's Public Works Subcommittee met on July 19, 2017;
WHEREAS, the Public Works Subcommittee heard a presentation on the status of
regional transit planning including the West Valley Connector Project and the Foothill Gold Line
Extension from the Montclair Transit Center to Ontario International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Subcommittee expressed support of the Foothill Gold Line
Extension from the Montclair Transit Center to Ontario International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Subcommittee expressed the need to provide access to
regional transit including access to and from the San Gabriel Valley via the Foothill Gold Line;
and
WHEREAS, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension to LA/Ontario International Airport
Strategic Planning Study" performed by KOA Corporation in 2008 included a "preferred route"
referred to as "2A Metrolink/Cucamonga Channel" route; and
WHEREAS, the "2A Metrolink/Cucamonga Channel" route would minimize land use
impacts to the City's neighborhoods and industrial areas; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that alternative future routes may be considered;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the above recitals are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council hereby declares its support for proposed alignments
of the Foothill Gold Line Extension to the Ontario International Airport that:
a. Utilize the existing Metrolink alignment lying generally north of and
parallel to 8th Street; and
b. Utilize the existing San Bernardino County Flood Control District
right-of-way for the Cucamonga Creek or Deer Creek Channels; and
C. Provide a Foothill Gold Line station within the City of Rancho
Cucamonga.
