HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010/01/27 - Minutes - PC-HPC CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Regular Meeting January 27, 2010 Chairman Fletcher called the Regular Meeting of the City of Rancho Cucamonga Planning Commission to order at 7:25 p.m. The meeting was held in the Tri-communities Room at Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center, 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, California. ROLL CALL COMMISSIONERS: PRESENT: Richard Fletcher, Frances Howdyshell, Lou Munoz, Ray Wimberly ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Candyce Burnett, Senior Planner; Dan James, Senior Civil Engineer; Corkran Nicholson, Assistant Planning Director; Lois Schrader, Planning Commission Secretary; James Troyer, Planning Director ANNOUNCEMENTS James Troyer, Planning Director, announced that Corky Nicholson,Assistant Planning Director, is retiring. He remarked that Corky has been an ideal Assistant Director and that he is pleased to call him a good friend as well. He commented on some of the projects Corky worked on such as the General Plan Update and the Victoria Gardens Amendments. He also served the Design Review Committee and trained staff. He wished his wife Kathy and their three children all the best in his retirement. Chairman Fletcher heartily thanked Corky Nicholson and presented a Resolution of Commendation from the Commission. Mr. Nicholson expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to serve an exceptional Commission, staff, and City. w APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: Moved by Munoz, seconded by Howdyshell, carried 4-0,to approve the minutes of January 13, 2010. • PUBLIC COMMENTS Ed Dietl, HPARC, thanked Mr. Nicholson for his service to the City of Rancho Cucamonga. • COMMISSION COMMENTS Vice Chairman Munoz noted that Mr. Nicholson served the Design Review Committee well in that he was a great consensus maker and that he would build coalitions. He remarked that a person can only get to work for Rancho Cucamonga if they are already at the top of the heap somewhere else. He said he would be missed. Commissioner Wimberly agreed and said he was very pleased to have been under Mr. Nicholson's tutelage at the DRC. He noted that he was always gracious and helpful and he gave him everything he needed to make a smooth transition. ADJOURNMENT Motion: Moved by Munoz, seconded by Howdyshell, carried 4-0, to adjourn. The Planning Commission adjourned at 7:35 p.m.to a workshop. The workshop adjourned at 8:35 p.m.and those minutes appear separately. s s, James R.
