HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994/05/11 - Workshop Minutes - PC-HPCCITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Adjourned Meeting May 11, 1994 Chairman Barker called the Adjourned Meeting of the City of" Rancho Cucamonga Planning Commission to order at 1:30 p.m. in the City Planner's office at Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center, 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, California. The tour then left for various locations throughout the City. ROLL CALL COMMISSIONERS: PRESENT: David Barker, Heinz Lumpp, John Melcher, Peter Tolstoy ABSENT: Larry McNiel STAFF PRESENT: Brad Buller, City Planner; Dan Coleman, Principal Planner , , , , COMMISSION BUSINESS FIELD TRIP TO VISIT DESIGN AWARD NOMINEES The Planning Commissioners visited the nominees in the 1994 Awards for Design Excellence program and selected the following projects to receive awards: File No. Description CateaorV CUP 90-18 Ryder Trucking Industrial DR 90-04 Rancho Cucamonga Adult Sports Complex Institutional Chairman Barker suggested that it would be appropriate for a letter to be sent to the Lighthouse Church, located at 9284 Base Line, in recognition of their extensive efforts to remodel the exterior of their building. Commissioner Tolstoy also recommended sending a letter to General Telephone complimenting them for their landscaping effort at the new GTE Switching facility located on the east side of Milliken, north of 5th Street. Commissioner Melcher commented that a letter to Hix Development Corporation would also be appropriate for the Hellman Avenue streetscape landscaping installed with Tract 14192 and the setting created for the historic Isaac Lord House. It was the consensus of the Commission that the Chairman should send thank you letters to the Lighthouse Church, GTE, and Hix Development Corporation. Commissioner Melcher suggested that the Commission consider establishing new eligibility criteria for the Awards for Design Excellence Program that would require the project to have been processed through the City's review process. He used schools as an example of projects which are exempt from the City's review process. It was the consensus of the Commission that Commissioner Melcher's suggestion be followed in the future.
