CALL TO ORDER The City of Rancho Cucamonga Public Art Committee held a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 by teleconference due to the Governor's Executive Orders, the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health requirements, and to ensure the health and safety of Rancho Cucamonga residents by limiting contact that could spread the COVID-19 virus. Chair Leslie Matamoros called the meeting to order at 5:14 p.m. Present were Committee Members: Bryan Dopp, Jaymie Leslie, John L. Machado, Jr., and Leslie Matamoros. Also present were Erika Lewis -Huntley, Management Analyst III, and Monica Mahoney, Consultant with Gemini Projects. B. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS No public communications were made. C. COMMITTEE BUSINESS C1. Consideration to approve the minutes of June 2, 2020. MOTION: Moved by Bryan Dopp, seconded by John Machado, to approve meeting minutes of June 2, 2020. C2. Update on the status of the Public Art Fund. Erika Lewis -Huntley, Management Analyst III, provided an update on the status of the Public Art Fund balance and reported $136,289 has been received to date. MOTION: N/A C3. Discussion of the Public Art Strategic Plan. Monica Mahoney, Founding Director of Gemini Projects and consultant for the Public Art Strategic Plan, reviewed outcomes thus far in the strategic planning process. Monica shared some of the community input from the General Plan Forum on our Future related to placemaking including themes centered around equity, diversity, health, and resiliency. Monica facilitated an interactive discussion regarding strategies for comprehensive and inclusive stakeholder outreach and engagement, including videos, paper and online surveys, (virtual) focus groups, (virtual) stakeholder meetings, social media campaigns with local influencers, and artist led input sessions, among other methods. The development of a Public Art Ambassador program was also discussed as a grassroots effort to optimize resources and generate a larger reach. A discussion ensued regarding the importance of branding for the plan and the need for it to be vibrant, inclusive, and engaging.
