CALL TO ORDER The City of Rancho Cucamonga Public Art Committee held a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 by teleconference due to the Governor's Executive Orders, the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health requirements, and to ensure the health and safety of Rancho Cucamonga residents by limiting contact that could spread the COVID–19 virus. Chair Leslie Matamoros called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. Present were Committee Members: Bryan Dopp, Jaymie Leslie, John L. Machado, Jr., Leslie Matamoros, and Paula Pachon. Also present were Erika Lewis-Huntley, Management Analyst III; and Monica Mahoney, Consultant with Gemini Projects. B. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS No public communications were made. C. COMMITTEE BUSINESS C1. Consideration to approve the minutes of July 7, 2020. MOTION: Moved by Jaymie Leslie, seconded by John Machado, to approve meeting minutes of July 7, 2020. C2. Update on the status of the Public Art Fund. Erika Lewis-Huntley, Management Analyst III, provided an update on the status of the Public Art Fund balance and reported $136,289 has been received to date. MOTION: N/A C3. Discussion of the Public Art Strategic Plan. Monica Mahoney, Founding Director of Gemini Projects and consultant for the Public Art Strategic Plan, reviewed outcomes thus far in the strategic planning process. Monica shared some of the community input from the July Healthy RC Steering Committee Meeting related to placemaking including themes centered around equity, diversity, inclusion, and health. Other key priorities included targeted engagement for specific neighborhoods, as well as youth engagement. Discussion ensued regarding the importance of comprehensive and inclusive stakeholder engagement, including developing specific strategies to reach priority areas and demographics in the community. Opportunities for collaboration with community groups was discussed including Healthy RC Steering Committee, Compassionate Communities, Community Champions, Healthy RC Youth Leaders, NAMI, Maloof Foundation, among others.
