In the interest of maintaining appropriate social distancing, members of the public will participate in the meeting remotely, either telephonically or electronically. Hairston, Esq. Board Member, Janet Temkin A. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS This is the time and place for the general public to address the Library Board of Trustees on any item listed on the agenda. State law prohibits the Library Board of Trustees from addressing any issue not previously included on the Agenda. The Board may receive testimony and set the matter for a subsequent meeting. Comments are to be limited to five minutes per individual or less, as deemed necessary by the Chair, depending upon the number of individual Members of the audience. This is a professional business meeting and courtesy and decorum are expected. Please refrain from any debate between audience and speaker, making loud noises or engaging in any activity which might be disruptive to the decorum of the meeting. THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2020 LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES AGENDA B. CONSENT CALENDAR The following Consent Calendar items are expected to be routine and non- controversial. They will be acted upon by the Library Board of Trustees at one time without discussion. Any item may be removed by a Member or member of the audience for discussion. B1. Consideration to approve the Minutes of May 7, 2020. B2. Consideration to approve the Library Revenue Balance Report of 2019/2020 Budget. C. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S STAFF REPORTS The following items do not legally require any public testimony, although the President may open the meeting for public input. C1. Consideration and discussion regarding general announcements and statistics. The oral report will be presented by Julie A. Sowles, Library Director. D. BOARD BUSINESS The following items have been requested by the Library Board of Trustees for discussion. They are not public hearing items, although the President may open the meeting for public input. D1. Consideration to approve Holiday Closures for the Calendar Year 2021. D2. BOARD MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS. (Comments to be limited to three minutes per Board Member.) E. IDENTIFICATION OF ITEMS FOR THE NEXT MEETING This is the time for the Library Board of Trustees to identify the items they wish to discuss at the next meeting. CALL TO ORDER —TELECONFERENCE The regular meeting of the Library Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, May 7, 2020, via a teleconference. President Murrieta-Morales called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present were Members De Vries, Hairston, Hannah and Temkin. Also present were: Julie A. Sowles, Library Director and Jennifer Palacios, Executive Assistant II. None. A. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS B. CONSENT CALENDAR 61. Consideration to approve the Minutes of March 5, 2020. MOTION: Moved by Member Hairston, seconded by Member De Vries, to approve Consent Calendar Item B1. Motion carried 5-0-0. B2. Consideration to approve the Library Revenue Balance Report of 2019/2020 Budget. MOTION: Moved by Member Temkin, seconded by Member Hairston, to approve Consent Calendar Item B2. Motion carried 5-0-0. C. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S STAFF REPORTS C1. Consideration and discussion regarding general announcements. The oral report will be presented by Julie A. Sowles, Library Director. Library Director Sowles presented a Library Services update report. D. BOARD BUSINESS D1. BOARD MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS. (Comments to be limited to three minutes per Board Member.) President Murrieta-Morales thanked Library staff for going above and beyond putting together a collection of books for her children to read. Member De Vries thanked Library staff for continuing to provide service to the community. Member Temkin thanked Library staff and Library Director Sowles leadership during this difficult time. She shared the first virtual Storytime of the Five Little Speckled Frogs was a hit with her grandson, which is his favorite book. Item 61-1 Thursday, May 7 ,2020 None.
