HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-72 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 80-72 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, RECOGNIZING JAMES C. FROST AS RANCHO CUCAMONGA'S FIRST MAYOR. WHEREAS, the geographic area known as Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda, incorporated in November, 1977 into what is now known as the City of Rancho Cucamonga; and, WHEREAS, incorporation necessitated electing a City Council and Mayor to guide the County's third largest city through the critical early years of progress; and, WHEREAS, James C. Frost's family has historical roots in the Community since the late 1800's; and, WHEREAS, James C. Frost was an active participant in local affairs prior to incorporation of the City of Rancho Cucamonga as a member of the Municipal Advisory Council, County Service Area 50 Advisory Commission, and Tri-Communities Incorporation Committee; and, WHEREAS, because of James C. Frost's obvious credentials and intense interest in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, he was selected as Mayor by his colleagues; and, WHEREAS, James C. Frost served as Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga during its "formative" years and helped lay the necessary foundation to establish the proper direction for the City of Rancho Cucamonga; and, WHEREAS, James C. Frost served with honor, distinction and unyielding dedication as the City of Rancho Cucamonga's first Mayor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby proclaims its sincere gratitude and appreciation to James C. Frost who served as Rancho Cucamonga's first Mayor from December, 1977 to April, 1980. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rancho Cucamonga City Council expresses its sincerest appreciation to Councilman Frost in recognition of the outstanding leadership provided during the City's formative years.
