HomeMy WebLinkAbout83-180 - ResolutionsRESOLUTION NO. 83-180 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CITY RECORDS AND DOCDTeNTS WHICH ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED AS PROVIDED UNDER GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 34090 WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain City records under the charge of the Personnel Department are no longer required for public or private purposes; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that destruction of the above- mentioned materials is necessary to conserve storage space, and reduce staff time, expense, and confusion in handling and informing the public; and WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of California authorizes the head of a City Department to destroy any City records or documents which are over two years old under his or her charge, without making a copy thereof, after the same are no longer required, upon the approval of the City Council by Resolution and the written consent of the City Attorney; and WHEREAS, it is therefore desirable to destroy said records as listed in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, in storage, without making a copy thereof, which are over two years old; and WHEREAS, said records have been approved for destruction by the City Attorney. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That approval and authorization is hereby given to destroy those records described as Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is authorized to allow examination by and donation to the Department of Special Collections of the University Research Library, University of California, or other historical society designated by the City Council, and of the records described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part thereof, except those deemed to be confidential. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same sail be in full force and effect.
