HomeMy WebLinkAbout84-105 - ResolutionsRESOLUTION NO. 84-105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RA/qCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING STATE SENATE BILL 2137 (GREENE) WHICH PROPOSED A REDUCTION IN RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION PARK AND RECREATION DEDICATION REQUIREMENTS WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has placed a high priority on meeting the expressed State goal of providing a 'suitable living environment' for families who now, or in the future, will live in this City; and WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has identified park and recreation facilities as one of the highest contributing factors toward providing that 'suitable living environment'; and WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has, in compliance with Section 66477 of the Government Code, adopted regulations through the City's Municipal Code that pertains to dedication of park and recreation facilities as a condition of residential subdivision at a ration of three acres of park and recreation facilities per 1,000 residents; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2137, introduced by Senator Leroy F. Greene, on February 17, 1984, and currently under consideration by the California State Legislature, would seriously impair efforts to provide the 'suitable living environment' of future residents of Rancho Cucamonga by reducing current park dedication requirements by fifty percent; BE IT NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga as follows: Senate Bill 2137, if adopted, would be detrimental to local efforts toward insuring availability of adequate park and recreation facilities, a key element of providing a 'suitable living environment' to residents of future subdivisions, through the reduction of park dedication standards; therefore 2. The City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, strongly opposes passage and adoption of Senate Bill 2137. PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 18th day of April, 1984.
