A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANfMO
CU CAMDNGA, CALIFORNIA, R~QUESTING THE LOCAL AGENCY
FORMATION COMMISSION TO TAKE PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FOOTHILL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AS
A SUBSIDIARY DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF RANCHO OJCAMDNGA
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga desires to initiate proceedings
pursuant to the Cortese-Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985,
Division 3, commencing with Section 56000 of the California Government Code,
for the establishment of the Foothill Fire Protection District as a subsidiary
district of the City of Rancho Cucamonga; and
WHEREAS, the territory proposed to be served is inhabited and a
description of the boundaries of the territory is set forth in Exhibit A
attached hereto and by this reference incorporated herein; and
WHEREAS, this proposal is consistent with the sphere of influence of
the affected city and district; and
WHEREAS, the reasons for this proposed subsidiary district are as
fol lows:
1. Provide the most cost effective and efficient fire protection
servzces to the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
2. Lessen the financial constraints and burden of special district
augmentation funds and the effects of Proposition 13 on the fire
protection service budget.
3. Provide an efficient system to encourage future planning of fire
services to meet the future needs of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga
hereby requests the Local Agency Formation Commission of San Bernardino County
to take proceedings for the establishment of the Foothill Fire Protection
District as a subsidiary district of the City of Rancho Cucamonga and in the
manner provided by the Cortese-Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of
1985.
