HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-439 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 89-439 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING DESIGNATION OF THE DEMENS-TOLSTOY HOUSE LOCATED AT 9686 HILLSIDE ROAD AS A LANDMARK WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission has held a duly advertised public hearing to consider all comments on the proposed Landmark Designation and issues Resolution No. 89-02 recommending to this City Council that said Landmark Designation be approved. WHEREAS, the City Council has received and reviewed all input from the Historic Preservation Commission regarding said Landmark Designation. WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites to the adoption of this Resolution have occurred. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby specifically find, determine, and resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The application generally applies to property located within Assessor Parcel Number 1061-561-03 as shown on Exhibit "A", an area of .89 acres measuring approximately 210 feet by 185 feet. SECTION 2: The proposed landmark meets the following criteria established in Chapter 2.24.090 of the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code: A. Historical and Cultural Significance: 1. The proposed landmark is particularly representative of an historical period, type, style, region, and way of life. 2. .The proposed landmark was connected with someone renowned and important. 3. The proposed landmark is an example of a type of building that is now rare. B. Historic Architectural and Engineering Significance: 1.The construction materials used in the proposed landmark are unusual, and uniquely effective. 2. The overall effect of the design of the proposed landmark is beautiful, its details and materials are beautiful and unusual. C. Neighborhood and Geographic Setting: 1. The proposed landmark materially benefits the historic character of the neighborhood. Resolution No. 89-439 Page 2 2. The proposed landmark in its location represents an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood and community. SECTION 3: Designation of a landmark is exempt from CEQA (Article 19, Section 15308}. SECTION 4: Based on the substantial evidence received and reviewed by this Council and based on the findings set forth above, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby resolve and approve designation of The Demens-Tolstoy House as a 1 andmark.
