HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-60 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 79-60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, PROCLAIMING THURSDAY, JULY 19, 1979, AS SEBASTIANO "BUSTER" FILPI DAY. WHEREAS, Sebastiano "Buster" Filpi, a native of Piana degli Albanesi, Sicily emigrated to the United States and to California in 1921; and %~HEREAS, during the more than half century Buster Filpi has lived in California he has continually demonstrated an extraordinary ability to achieve success in the business world; and WHEREAS, in 1950, he pioneered major industrial development in the community by constructing the first industrial park in Cucamonga; and WHEREAS, since that time Mr. Filpi has continually demonstrated his commitment to provide industrial development which has not only stimulated the City's economy, but also provided employment opportunities to residents of Rancho Cucamonga; and WHEREAS, the pioneering spirit of Buster Filpi, combined with his faith in the future of Cucamonga has served as an example to other industrial developers, and has resulted in the preservation and development of a substantial portion of the City of Rancho Cucamonga as an important industrial center for the west end of San Bernardino County; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Thursday, July 19, 1979, be designated as "Buster Filpi Day" in the City of Rancho Cucamonga in recognition of the many contributions of Buster Filpi during the time he has been an active member of the Rancho Cucamonga industrial community.
