HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-46 - ResolutionsRESOLUTION NO 81- 46 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO SENATE BILL 314 WHEREAS, Senate Bill 314 proposed by Senator Dills supports binding arbitration; and, WHEREAS, Binding Arbitration is a method of resolving labor disputes under which the parties to a controversy must accept the award of a third party; and, WHEREAS, Senate Bill 314 would drastically affect the Collec- tive Bargaining process in local government and undermine the authority of locally elected representatives in handling employer-employee relations; and, WHEREAS, Binding Arbitration has not historically prevented the threat or occurrence of a strike; and, WHEREAS, Senator Ruben S. Ayala has requested that the Rancho Cucamonga City Council oppose by Resolution, Senate Bill 314; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby state its opposition to Binding Arbitration as a mechanism to resolve local employer-employee relations and opposes the adoption of Senate Bill 314.
