HIKELS FOH HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE TO THle CITY AS MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBER WHEREAS, Jon D. Xikels was elected one of the original five Councilmembers by the citizens of the newly incorporated City of Rancho Cucamonga in November of 1977, and served a second Council term from April of 1982 through November of 1986; and WHERF~, Jon D. 14ikels served as Mayor of the City of Rancho Cucamonga from April of 1982 to April of 1986; and WHERF-i~, Jon D. Nikels represented the City of Rancho Cucamonga on the Southern California Association of Covermerits, the LeaBus of California Cities, the San Bernardino Associ,ted Governments, the Route 30 Corridor Group, the Ontario International Airport Ground Access Steering Coemittee, Onnitrans Board of Directors, the Soil Erosion Commission, and ntuerous other Council representative organixations; and b~EREAS, Jon D. Nikel s, whlle Mayor and Counci linetuber, was instrumental in improving the economic and social well-being of the community by participating in the adoption of the City', first General Plan, the Industrial Area Specific Plan, and the Etiwand, Specific Plan; and ~;HERx,~, Jon D. Nikels was instrumental in the establishment of the Hancho Cucamonga Historical Commission and in the acquisition and completion of Alta Loma Park, Befitage Community Park, Red Hill Community Park, and numerous other community facilities which will have a lasting impact on the City of hncho Cucamonga; and ~HEREAS, Jon D. Nikels has provided exceptional leadership throughout the City of ]t, ncho Cucamonga and County of San Bernardino, influencing economic development, housing, employment and community development throu2hout the community; and ~HBRFAg, Jon D. Nikels, during his tenure as Mayor and as member of the Rancho Cucamonga City Council, continually provided to his colleagues and to the citizens of aancho Cucamonga an outstanding example of leadership, dedication and competence. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rancho Cucamonga City Council, on behalf of its citizens, hereby countends Jon D. 14ikels for his outstandin2 leadership and dedication while serving as Mayor and Councilmember of the City of Rsncho Cucamong,, and further be it resolved that the City Council extends best wishes for continued success in future endeavors.
