A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE STATE'S DESIGNATION OF ,
REGIONALLY SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION AGGREGATE RESOURCES IN
THE CLAREMONT-UFLAND, AND SAN BERNARDINO
PRODUCTION-CONSUMPTION REG IONS
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamon~a is located in the areas that are
being considered for designation of regionally significant construction
aggregate resources by the State Mining and Geology Board under the Authority
of State Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA) of 1975; and
WHEREAS, areas that are being considered for aggregate resource
designation include land that has already been developed and/or is committed to
development; and
W~EREAS, the aggregate resource designations, as proposed, are in
conflict with previously approved Specific Plans, Conm-,nity Plans, development
agreements, and numerous developments; and
W~EREAS, the proposed aggregate resource designations are in conflit t
with the City's General Plan and could dilute the City's commitment to a
balanced com-.,nity with adequate employment opportunities and sufficient supply
of various types of housing for all segments of the population.
W~EREAS, the proposed aggregate resource designation will create
potential land use conflicts within the City as well as in the City's sphere of
influence.
NOW, TEERE, ORE, let it be resolved that the City Council of the City
of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby request the State Mining and Geology Board to
remove the proposed aggregate resource designations in the areas within the
City limits of Rancho Cucamonga and that the City's sphere of influence be
modified to exclude areas planned for development, in accordance with Exhibit
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 6th day of November. 1985.
